Holly Hill's focus is to develop our riders in a safe and friendly atmosphere on well-trained horses and ponies. Our lesson program is taught by qualified professionals and our group lessons have a maximum of four per group. Riders can take lessons just for the fun of it, but there is always the opportunity to compete when you are ready. Please contact us to book a trial lesson. 613-931-2493

Beginner Lunge Line Program:

45 minute sessions:$40 (Tax Included)

Beginner riders start on experienced school horses/ponies with a one on one student/teacher ratio. When ready, students graduate to group lessons.

  • Weekly 45 minute sessions
  • Learn the basics of safety, grooming, tacking up, and basic control while mounted.

Group Lesson Program:

One-hour lesson: $45 (Tax is included)

  • Riders are grouped according to their level. They work on individual and group exercises to improve their basic skills. Groups consist of 3-4 riders.

Private Lessons:

45 minute lessons: $50 (plus HST)

  • Private lessons are a great way to focus on your specific needs.

Please Note: We expect riders for all lessons to help groom and tack up before the lesson and groom and clean tack after the lesson. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the lesson time. Our horses also love getting a treat after the lesson. Carrots, one apple, peppermints, or horse treats are their favorites.

Safety and Dress Requirements:

  • We recommend purchasing a properly fitted approved riding helmet and boots with a heel (preferably paddock boots or riding boots).  We have helmets that can be used until such time as you decide to purchase your own.
  • Proper attire for lessons includes a neatly fitted T-shirt or polo shirt (no tank tops or tube tops), a neatly fitted sweater or jacket in the colder weather, and pants such as breeches, jodphurs, stretch pants, or fitted jeans.
  • Long hair should be tied back in a pony tail or braid. It could also be fitted up under a helmet in a hairnet. We recommend that loose fitted jewellery is not worn during lessons as it can get caught on something.
